February 13, 2009 notes

 Greetings, fellow explorers!

During this past Saturday's meeting, Regina brought a huge stack of Victorian pattern books, with patterns for all sorts of clothing for men and women, and has suggested that there be a future weekly sewing meeting at her home, with people bringing fabric and sewing machines to put together clothing. I think this is a fine idea, and given the many talented seamstresses in our midst, think we may all soon be sporting spiffy finery to wear at our costume parties and other themed events. These meetings may start in a few weeks' time, and I will post updates on this as time progresses.

Regina and Marcus also brought a very interesting book full of rayguns and robots and all sorts of steampunk inventions: "Doctor Grordbort's Contrapulatronic Dingus Directory". It was an enjoyable read.

Next weekend will be our monthly evening craft meet, and while Seth and I may not return from Anchorage in time to make it, we hope everybody brings along a craft project or three and finds some time to sit and work on them in the company of others. Remember, it's at Sipping Streams Tea House from about 5 pm to 7 pm.
